About DIVE-VRT
The University of South Florida (USF) Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling (CRMHC) program, in collaboration with USF LAUNCH, VRG Learning Institute, USF Innovative Education, and USF Research Technology, has been funded through the Disability Innovation Fund (DIF) grant from the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA) (Award: H421F240044) to carry out the demonstration project, Delivering Innovative Vocational Education through Virtual Reality Technology (DIVE-VRT).
The project is funded over five years, from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2029. The project aims to develop, implement, refine, evaluate, and disseminate a cutting-edge curriculum designed to facilitate competitive integrated employment (CIE) outcomes for transition-age youth in school (ages 16-21) and adults out of school (ages 18+) with lifelong and/or acquired disabilities.
Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies are integral to the project model, adoptability/scalability, and sustainability. Participants will be empowered to employ self-determination, informed choice, and self-advocacy throughout the project period. Our team will utilize person-centered, strengths-based approaches that consider project participants' individual needs, talents, interests, and perspectives on their journey to employment.
DIVE- VRT Goals Under This Grant:
- Develop, implement, refine, evaluate, and disseminate an innovative, state-of-the-art model curriculum designed to facilitate timely, competitive integrated employment (CIE) outcomes, in high-demand careers, for transition-age youth (ages 16-21) and adults (ages 22+) with lifelong and/or acquired disabilities.
- Create a sustainable, accessible, user-friendly website that contains project information, results, training, and resources to support project participants and stakeholders, and hosts the DIVE-VRT model curriculum scaling/replication process.
